Alberta Health covers only the very basic costs of a vasectomy.
We strongly recommend choosing our Premium package for our no-scalpel, no-needle, single-puncture, minimally invasive, gentle touch vasectomy, which almost all of our patients choose for improved comfort and convenience for $350.
This is a one-time fee for a once-in-a-lifetime procedure.
The cost of other contraceptive methods, such as birth control pills or condoms etc. is significantly greater over time.

No-Stress Vasectomy at Lohlun Clinic
No Needle in the Scrotum
First of all, men do not like needles or sharp objects of any sort down there! With Premium, we eliminate the need for a needle for freezing the scrotum by using a specialized spray applicator. This device uses air pressure to spray a fine stream of anesthetic (0.1 cc/injection) through the skin, freezing both the skin and vas deferens at the same time.
With this method, the benefit is that no sharp object physically enters the scrotum, so there is less risk of puncturing a blood vessel, it reduces patient anxiety which helps relax the scrotum so there is less uncomfortable tugging and pulling during the procedure, patients report less pain during freezing, and it also reduces the procedure length since less time is spent controlling bleeding or managing local hematoma from the needle.
Post Surgical Supplies Included
Secondly, all the supplies that you need to purchase after your surgery are pre-bought, pre-packed and given to you the day of your surgery.
This saves you the hassle of running around to different stores to buy them at retail price after your surgery, which you will otherwise need to do.
You come in, have your procedure, then head straight home to relax and ice your scrotum.
Follow-Ups by Phone
Thirdly, all your in-office follow up visits will be eliminated and done by telephone instead. We all live busy lives and it is challenging to arrange and keep appointments for extra clinic visits.
Rather than coming back to the office multiple times and having to deal with the time lost from work, driving, parking, gas, etc., our staff will conduct your follow ups as well as discuss your semen test results down the road by telephone instead.

The Premium fee enables us to provide this exceptional level of service and cover our costs, as AB Health only remunerates us for in-office visits and standard anaesthesia.

Should you choose not to purchase the Premium Service option, you will need to come back to the office in person for the follow up visits, test results, etc. We will provide you with a list of the supplies you will need to purchase on your own and you will get the standard needle freezing of the scrotum.
